Introducing our new interns Phil & Ryan
The WHOCC would like to welcome our new interns Philippe Weissenberg Anaboli & Ryan Mak. They were chosen out of a selection of stellar applicants from the students enrolled on Master's programmes at Imperial College London.
Philippe completed his degree in veterinary medicine at the Ludwig-Maximilian’s University of Munich, with academic experiences in France, Denmark, and the USA along the way. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Public Health at Imperial College London. During his studies, Philippe has actively engaged with both international student and intergovernmental organisations such as the International Student One Health Alliance and the World Organisation for Animal Health, while also serving as an intern in governmental offices and agencies. His main interests lie at the intersection between human and animal health, with zoonotic disease control, outbreak preparedness, and emergency response at its core. In the future, Philippe hopes to contribute to shaping global health policies from a One Health perspective. Besides spending time together with his friends, he enjoys playing sports and music, as well as discovering and immersing himself in new cultures.
Ryan completed his undergraduate studies in biomedical sciences at the University of Hong Kong. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Public Health degree at Imperial College London. Ryan has previously interned at think tanks, universities, and non-governmental organizations. He is enthusiastic about pursuing a career in public health research. He is particularly eager to engage in research focused on infectious diseases, noncommunicable diseases, child and adolescent health, mental health, and tobacco control. Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Ryan enjoys traveling, playing sports like tennis and football, and spending time with friends.
We are thrilled to have Ryan and Philippe joining us at WHOCC Imperial College London. Along with discovering how their skills and dedication can contribute to our mission, we are excited to see in what ways they develop and what new competencies they gain. We are sure they will enhance the valuable work we do, as well as benefit from this noteworthy experience.
