The aim of this workshop was to increase awareness of the World Federation Medical Education (WFME) accreditation standards, not only their relevance and importance to today’s medical education, but more importantly, their in-depth content and how to translate those standards into meaningful actions to improve quality, as well as get accredited.
The talk was held on a Zoom meeting at 9 pm Cairo time and broadcasted on the GHC- Libya social media pages. The panel included experts from the EMRO region and a member from the WHOCC team discussing the 7th standard of the WFME which is Quality Assurance. The WHOCC representative gave a general overview of the Quality Assurance of Higher Education in the UK and looked at the specifics of medical education GMC standards. Emphasising the new “value-added” indicator that will be a criteria for higher education organisations in the next few years, the role of research, and the continuous monitoring and evaluation of the schools that encourages innovation and renewal.
